Paradeep area

Proposals for Paradeep and Jagatsinghpur Area - Debi P. Sarangi

Jagatsinghpur was once upon called as the gift of Goddess Saraswati to Orissa considering the level of literacy and higher educated mass of the district. Unfortunately it has not developed its higher education system at par with other districts like Khurda and Cuttack. I would also like to propose some higher educational institutes in the District.

  1. To develop and upgrade the Orissa Maritime Institute, Paradeep excellence at par with a world class institute. 
  2. To start a National Institute of Port Management at Paradeep on the lines of Fire institute, Nagpur well equipped for port engineering and designing,  keeping the new upcoming port in the state and the country. 
  3. To  start a National Marine Research Institute specifically keeping the Olive ridley, mangroves, and marine ecology in the surrounding area.
  4. To start a medical college at Paradeep so as to provide ultra modern medical treatment to people of Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts. For this the Paradeep port hospital could be used initially with asatelite centre at Jagatsingpur and Kendrapara district hospitals. Funding could availed be from Paradeep port, PPL, Iffco, IOCL, Essar steel and POSCO. Everybody is going to get benefit out of it including the local people.
  5. The Jagatsinghpur college should be developed as a leading college and PG courses in science stream should be started.
  6. An upgraded govt. college should be started at Paradeep area.
  7. A govt. engineering school should be started at Tirtol within the buildings of abandoned spinning mill, a huge complex.
  8. An education college should be started in the district with B. Ed. And C.T. Course.
  9. A new University should be started at Paradeep or Jagatsinhpur for all the colleges in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara district. Or else a satellite centre of Utkal University should be started at Jagatsinghpur. For your information Vidyasagar University, West Bengal started with only 14 colleges
  10. Jagatsinghpur is not having a Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya. I think the good area would be Erasama which is close to Paradeep and Jagatsinghpur and a Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jagatsinghpur.
